League Start Up Meeting

Sandra called meeting to order at 7:05pm.

New teams –The deadline for any new teams to join the league this year is April 12, 2010.  Busby is potential at this point and will let the league know by April 12. (A new team has sent an email, March 16, and has proposed to play in the league this year out of Cardiff.  Their deadline to commit would be April 12)

Departing teams – Legal Outlaws will be departing.  Dapp was not in attendance at the meeting, we have not received any information if they are coming back.

Schedule for 2010 – 6 teams are fully committed to play this year with the potential of two more teams (Busby and New Cardiff).  The league play will be every Wednesday and every second Monday.  Sandra will prepare a schedule after April 12, with a league start date of April 28, 2010.

Team Rosters – Team Rosters due by Tournament Meeting May 25.  Rosters will now to include a waiver for players to sign to allow pictures of players playing ball to be posted on the league website.  Sandra and Colleen are to determine wording for rosters.

League Fees – League fees consisting are now $350.00, an increase of $50.00 from 2009.  These fees will be due at the tournament meeting, May 25^th.

League Rules – Colleen motioned and Rogelle 2^nd the change for the 1^st item on the league rules to read: “All players must be 18 years of age with the exception of 2 players under the age of 18, but not younger than 16 at the start of the playing year.”

Statistics – scores to be phoned in (780-961-2237) or emailed (callison@mcsnet.ca) to Colleen Allison by the winning team after every game.  Deadline for calls or emails is the Friday of the week played, and by Wednesday evening before the final tournament.

Treasurer’s report – balance in account $320.00.

Advertising – Tammy to contact community websites at Westlock, Gibbons, St Albert, Morinville, Bon Accord, Sturgeon County and Sunflower Resource Program.  We have continued the website for our league www.sturgeonladiesfastball.com

2010 Tournament – June 19 and 20.  Location to still be determined, deadline for location is April 12.  Tammy will book Cardiff Park diamonds until a final decision is made.  Colleen will contact umpires for tournament maybe carded or non-carded.  Tournament meeting is scheduled for May 25, 7:00 pm at the Legal Alfalfa Plant.  League fees and team rosters are due at the meeting.  Pregnant women are not allowed to play in the final tournament.
